Flávio Bolsonaro, the defeated Brazilian presidential candidate, has left Brazil after the country's Supreme Court ordered him to surrender his passports. Argentina's migration authorities said Bolsonaro, his wife and two daughters crossed into Argentina late Tuesday and boarded a private Gulfstream jet headed to Ecuador. Flight tracking data analyzed by BBC Verify shows the same aircraft departed Guayaquil, Ecuador on Wednesday and is listed as heading to Opa Locka executive airport north of Miami, Florida, though it is unclear whether Bolsonaro remains on board. A senior US official said the State Department would issue visas to Bolsonaro and his family if they requested entry. A police source told the BBC that Brazilian federal officials were checking border crossings after Bolsonaro missed a 24-hour deadline to hand over his passports, which officials then cancelled. Bolsonaro is under investigation for alleged money laundering and corruption. He has not been charged and denies the allegations. Bolsonaro lost a presidential runoff to leftist incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Sunday, receiving 48.21% of the vote to Lula's 51.79%. He has not conceded the election and has called for it to be annulled.
