President Donald Trump conceded that Democrats performed well in midterm elections that gave them control of both the Senate and House of Representatives, while attacking Republicans he deemed disloyal to the party.

Trump told Fox News that "the Democrats did a good job. they fought hard" and told The New York Times he was "absolutely willing to accept" the election results. He said he looked forward to working with Democrats and that "we'll probably work something out."

He attacked Texas Governor Greg Abbott for losing the governor race to Democrat Gina Hinojosa, saying Abbott "wouldn't have lost" if he "hadn't become a RINO in the last six months," using the acronym for "Republican in Name Only."

Trump told Fox News he was "a little surprised" at the outcome and said Republican candidates "would have won IN A LANDSLIDE" if he had been on the ballot. He also said Democrats would send "insane" legislation to his desk that he would veto, adding he had "the power of veto."

When asked about the results, Trump cited the Iran conflict as a factor. He told Fox News that while voters agreed with his approach to Iran, higher gasoline prices from the conflict affected the outcome. "People agree with what I'm doing on Iran but they really probably weren't willing to do the short term consequences of paying more for gasoline," he said.

Trump also criticized Fox News in Truth Social posts, saying the outlet spent too much time covering Democrats and had poor ratings because it was "AGAINST me."
