A Green Party member who introduced a controversial motion on Zionism was named in court as a "close friend" of a man jailed for 40 years in connection with a Heathrow bomb plot investigation.
Lubna Speitan offered to testify on behalf of Minh Quang Pham, who received his sentence following the security investigation. The court proceedings linked Speitan to Pham, identifying her as a close associate.
Speitan had previously brought forward a motion related to Zionism within Green Party circles. The disclosure of her connection to Pham, identified in court documents as having al-Qaeda support links, drew attention to her political activities and past associations.
The BBC Politics reported the court naming of Speitan in relation to the case. The revelation came as part of legal proceedings involving Pham's conviction tied to the Heathrow security investigation.
